Built in the 19th century this former smugglers headquarter on the Spanish-Portuguese border offers stunning views towards the Serra de Sao Mamede Natural Park in Portugal. Three Unesco world heritage sites to visit: Evora in Portugal and historic towns of Caceres and Merida in Spain. What else? Golf course, Natural swimming pool, horse riding, walking in the natural park on sign-posted footpaths, biking or bird watching (protected bird area) and much more...We have 2 double bedrooms as B&B and a self-catering apartment with two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and dining room, accompanied by a lovely terrace and garden with swimming pool. Our guesthouse boasts a family atmosphere, with a breakfast and dining room and a sitting room complete with fireplace. A continental breakfast is included. The whole house is rustic and authentically 'rural'. We have no air-conditioning, mini-bar or satellite TV. But instead a very special ambient and family atmosphere and your pets are welcome, too.Once there, however, the visitor will surely not be disappointed, for this is a wonderfully restored accommodation with the added bonus of having some unique characteristics. Firstly, it is slap bang on the Spanish Portuguese border. You can literally come in from the Spanish side and walk out through the other doors onto the magnificent São Mamede Natural Park in Portugal.Trekking is possible on sign-posted tracks or with a local guide (trekking bikes can be rented). Cycling and horse riding are available within 4km distance. The Golf Ammaia Club de Golf de Marvão is 5km away. Places to see in the area include Castelo de Vide, Marvão in Portugal, and the Dolmen Routes, important megalithic monuments in the area.
