Many of the local tradesmen and artisans were involved in the renovation work, to this day many village Casarabonela people will tell you they worked here as stonemasons or gardeners. The house is built on a very large rock, the walls of the old house are over 80 cms thick warm in the winter and cool in the summer, it has been here for several hundered years and will be here for a few hundred more; in addition there are many original rustic features - too many to mention here. There are 3 separate water supplies to the house and gardens 1. The famous Casarabonela “town water”. 2. Mountain spring water, “The athecia alto” and 3. A well in the grounds, this water is used for irrigation only. The house approx 935 square metres built size is situated in the centre of the land with an area of 140,000 square metres and is accessed via a private driveway 350 metres long which in turn is accessed from the main Alozaina / Casarabonela road.
