The middle two weekends of September are very different, the town hosting the Luna Mora Fiesta, when thousands of visitors flood the area, with buses ferrying visitors in from huge carparks on the outskirts of the pueblo. During the day there are Moroccan markets and at night the only light is by candles, which line the streets. There are many little bars and restaurants and even a disco for those determined for some reason to shake off the feeling of total serenity, although if you value unbridled charm, friendliness and perhaps the most delicious examples of authentic Spanish cooking in the whole of Andalucia, Guaro is in a prime position for further exploration, with towns such as Monda, Coin, Tolox and Yunquera all relatively very near. Guaro is a small andalucian pueblo blanco (white village) of 2020 inhabitants located between Coin and Tolox. It is dependent on the River Grande, whose fertile plains are of great agricultural importance. Guaro is one of the seven pueblos of the Sierra de las Nieves and is 386m above sea level The village, which dates back to mediaeval times, consists of steep, winding streets of white houses concentrated around St. Michael&39;s Church. Guaro prides itself on its nuts: almonds to be precise. Signs on the approach roads to the village declare it to be the &39;Paraiso Natural de las Almendras&39; (the Natural Almond Paradise), and it boasts an almond college...
