History of Benalmádena. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Es in 711 when Muslims make their bequeathed to "Spania" (name remained from the Byzantine occupation) with an occupation in which the covenants and negotiation prevail against weapons. "Ibn al-Baytar Diya al-Din Abu Muhammad Abd Aliah ibn Ahmad al Andalusi al-Malaqui (Malaga) al-Nabati (botanist) was also known as Ibn al-Baytar (son of veterinarian) and is arguably the most important historical figure born in Benalmádena. This is the most interesting botanist and pharmacist of the Middle Ages. Born in Benalmádena in 1197, where he spent his childhood and adolescence, and where he became interested in the plants of their environment and how to use them to treat certain ailments. With this concern traveling to have the best teachers of the time, which gets easily considering the great advances of Arabic science, the most advanced culture of its time. At 24 he began to travel around various capitals of the Muslim empire, becoming Head of Botanical in Cairo and ending his trip to Damascus where he became Vizier with great honor and being one of the most influential people of the whole country. His studies of botany, zoology, mineralogy and the nature of man do you publish a large number of works considered as guides for scholars who followed him. Three publications are theirs above all others: "Mogni fi addwiya the Mofridat" (basic treatise on simple remedies) where a kind of practical guide for physicians ago. "Kitab al-Jami li-Mufradat al-adwiyah wa-al-aghdhiyah" (essential treatise on medicine and food) that makes a relationship more than 1400 examples of natural medicines, herbal remedies and food products of their own observation and consultation from over 150 sources. "Chami to Mofridat addwiya alagdiya wa" (collection of simple drugs) which takes a systematic relationship, in alphabetical order, their studies and research on drugs and foods contained in the three natural kingdoms. Ibn al-Baytar reached category wise, and he wrote one of his disciples, Benalmádena was not only his birthplace but the source of his wisdom.
